Major milestone reached
April 2025
We’ve reached a major milestone in feasibility investigation studies for our proposed Aurora Green offshore wind project.
We recently finished our geophysical surveys off the coast of Ninety Mile Beach. Over the course of several weeks, our survey teams gathered seabed and environmental data about the site of Aurora Green, which is located at least 25 km offshore between Seaspray/The Honeysuckles and Woodside Beach.
During the surveys of the 700 km2 site, our crew made some fascinating discoveries, including two shipwrecks which may have been previously uncharted. We’re working with Commonwealth and Victorian heritage teams to determine the identity of the ships, which are likely to be protected under the Commonwealth’s Underwater Cultural Heritage Act 2018.
These surveys are an important step in helping us understand the local marine environment.
Aurora Green’s location is within Gunaikurnai Sea Country. We’re proud to announce a landmark Engagement Agreement with Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) who we’re actively engaging with about the Aurora Green proposal. Working in genuine partnership with GLaWAC is key to making sure our project delivers positive outcomes for Traditional Owners and Sea Country during planning, construction, and for decades to come.
We also recently wrapped up our latest round of community engagement sessions. We were in Sale as part of the Wellington Sustainability Festival on Saturday, March 22, where more than 30 people dropped in to chat with us about our project. There were some questions around the amount of offshore feasibility licences granted in Gippsland and how they related to the Victorian Government renewable energy targets, as well as excitement around the potential for a new industry in Gippsland.
