The proposed Bundaberg Regional Battery at Gin Gin is located on privately owned land on the Bailai, Gurang, Gooreng Gooreng, Taribelang Bunda people’s country, within the Bundaberg Regional Council and approximately 20 km west on the Bruce Highway from the Gin Gin township.
The proposed battery will have a power output of up to 500 MW and up to 800MWh of storage.

The proposed Bundaberg Regional Battery at Gin Gin (the project) is located on privately owned land on the Bailai, Gurang, Gooreng Gooreng, Taribelang Bunda people’s country, within the Bundaberg Regional Council and approximately 20 km west on the Bruce Highway from the Gin Gin township. The proposed battery will have a power output of up to 500 MW and up to 800MWh of storage.
Current Stage
The project has submitted its Social Impact Assessment to the Bundaberg Regional Council. Iberdrola Australia would like to thank all of the community and stakeholders who participated and provided their feedback.
Next Steps
The Bundaberg Regional Council will review the Social Impact Assessment, and we will then negotiate a Community Benefit Agreement in accordance with their Renewable Energy Community Benefit Agreement Policy.

Throughout 2026 the project has continued to support the local community, including through sponsorship of the Gin Gin Show and Gin Gin Showball, supporting the Gin Gin RSL's ANZAC day event as well as the Monduran Anglers Fishing Association Annual Fishing Classic.
