Mullion Creek Wind Farm

The Mullion Creek Wind Farm (the Project) is about 20 km north of Orange (NSW) on Wiradjuri country. If approved, it would be built in the Forestry Corporation of New South Wales’s (Forestry Corporation) Mullions Range softwood pine plantation, in Cabonne Shire Council and Dubbo Regional Council areas.

The Investigation Permit was awarded to Iberdrola Australia in May 2024, allowing a series of investigative studies to be initiated. If the Project is deemed feasible, we will continue to develop the project and obtain the necessary planning approvals and grid connection. This is expected to take up to six years. Iberdrola Australia is also exploring a potential wind farm within the Canobolas State Forest softwood plantation.

Community Wrap Up

Community consultation for release of turbine layout and Scoping Report

Iberdrola Australia invited the community to attend two community drop-in information sessions at Mullion Creek Hall in November 2025, where displays and project information were made available.

This was an opportunity for those who joined us to receive an update on the preliminary work undertaken, learn more about the proposed Project and speak directly with the project team. The new preliminary site layout was also available for viewing. The preliminary size and location of the potential wind turbines and related infrastructure is only indicative and not final. It is subject to change and refinement following further consultation and studies.

We valued the opportunity to hear from the community and gather ideas on how the Project could be refined to minimise potential impacts on the local community and unlock social and economic opportunities. The preliminary layout has been given careful consideration and has been developed based on key stakeholder and local community feedback. Sensible design considerations have been taken into account to avoid and minimise potential impacts on the local community and to unlock social, environmental and economic opportunities in the region. Ongoing feedback at this early stage is important to identifying mitigations and design improvements.

Our updated Project Factsheet and Frequently Asked Questions booklets are available in the Project Documents section below.
